Guest Lecture “Urban’s Future” Discusses Sustainability and Transdisciplinarity in Urban Environments

The Graduate School of Udayana University hosted a guest lecture titled “Urban’s Future,” which emphasized the importance of sustainability and a transdisciplinary approach in urban development. This event is a collaboration between the Master’s Program in Environmental Science and the Master’s Program in Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University, and was held on Monday, April 27, 2026, in Room 3.10 of the Unud Postgraduate Building.

This guest lecture featured several prominent speakers, including Dr. Sarath Mataraarachchi, Rukuh Setiadi, B.Eng., M.Eng., Ph.D., and Prof. Ir. Gusti Ayu Made Suartika, B.Eng., M.Eng.Sc., Ph.D. The event was moderated by Ni Made Utami Dwipayanti, S.T., M.BEnv., Ph.D., who guided the interactive discussion with the participants.

The speakers shared their perspectives on the challenges and opportunities in sustainable urban management. The discussion focused primarily on how diverse academic disciplines can be combined to create innovative solutions to urban problems, ranging from urban planning to efficient environmental management.

This guest lecture also highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration between environmental science, architecture, and other related fields. “Diversity and transdisciplinarity are key to achieving urban sustainability,” said Dr. Sarath, emphasizing the need for a holistic approach to modern urban development.

In addition to the presentation sessions, the event also provided participants with the opportunity to ask questions and engage in direct discussions with experts.
