Postgraduate Unud’s Professional Engineer Program Socializes Feasibility Study and EIA of Jimbaran West Ring Road Development Plan

On Friday, November 24, 2023, at LPD Desa Adat Jimbaran, South Kuta, the Postgraduate Professional Engineer Program (PSPPI) Study Program of Udayana University (Unud) conducted socialization and public consultation related to the feasibility study (FS) and environmental impact analysis (EIA) of the Jimbaran West Ring Road Development Plan. This activity is a further stage of the implementation of cooperation between PSPPI Postgraduate Unud and the Public Works and Spatial Planning Office (PUPR) of Badung Regency.

This public consultation was carried out in order to socialize the PUPR Badung plan to make the Jimbaran Ring Road, which connects Bukit Permai Road with Jimbaran Beach Road. This road was originally a proposal from the local traditional village community to unravel congestion on Jalan Uluwatu Jimbaran, especially when there is a Melasti Ceremony. Input from the community encouraged PUPR Badung to make a feasibility study in collaboration with PSPPI Postgraduate Unud.

This public consultation is the first meeting, inviting several parties, including indigenous villagers, affected hotels, and several related agencies. PSPPI Postgraduate Unud proposed an alternative road down (subway) so as not to disturb the beach, which is used by the businesses of local residents who mostly own grilled fish restaurants, namely in the Café 19 area on Bukit Permai Street and Café 9 on Pemelisan Agung Street.

This proposal was welcomed by the Jimbaran indigenous village community. A. A. Bagus Mutiara, Chairman of the Committee for Coastal Arrangement and Making Road Access Along Jimbaran Beach, said that he really appreciated PSPPI Postgraduate Unud and the PUPR Badung Office in an effort to realize the construction of roads that are believed to be able to improve the economy of the Jimbaran village community. This public consultation was then closed with a joint survey of the location of the starting point of the Jimbaran Subway Road in order to accommodate all stakeholders. (eLa)
