Synergizing in Conservation and Sustainability Issues, Postgraduate Unud Signs Cooperation Agreement with Batur UNESCO Global Geopark

Denpasar, July 15, 2024 - Udayana University (Unud) Postgraduate Program and Batur UNESCO Global Geopark signed a strategic cooperation agreement on Monday, July 15, 2024. The event took place on the campus of Postgraduate Unud and was attended by the Director of Postgraduate Unud, the Daily Chairperson of Batur UNESCO Global Geopark, Deputy Directors, and Heads of Study Programs at Postgraduate Unud. This collaboration is expected to strengthen the synergy between the academic world and nature conservation.


The Director of Postgraduate  Unud expressed his gratitude to the Batur UNESCO Global Geopark for the opportunity to collaborate. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of this collaboration in improving the quality of education and research at Udayana University, especially in the fields of geology and sustainable tourism. “This collaboration opens up great opportunities for students and researchers to conduct more in-depth field research and develop study programs that are relevant to the needs of the times,” he said.



 

Meanwhile, I Wayan Gobang Edi Sucipto, Daily Chairperson of Batur UNESCO Global Geopark expressed his enthusiasm for this collaboration. He explained that this agreement will help Batur Geopark in its conservation and education efforts, as well as promoting the geopark as a tourist destination that emphasizes environmental sustainability. “Through this collaboration, we hope to encourage more innovations and initiatives that support nature conservation and empower local communities,” he said.


The signing of this cooperation agreement involved the Deputy Directors and Heads of Study Programs at Postgraduate Unud, each of whom expressed their commitment in supporting the implementation of this collaboration. The study program leaders plan to integrate materials and projects related to the Batur Geopark into their curriculum, so that students can directly benefit from this collaboration.


The collaboration between Udayana University Postgraduate Program and Batur UNESCO Global Geopark is expected to be an example for other institutions in developing mutually beneficial partnerships. With support from various parties, this collaboration is expected to make a significant contribution in the fields of education, research, and nature conservation in Indonesia.
