Taking the Initiative: Unud’s Master’s Program in Sustainable Development and Finance Holds a Promotional Outreach Event in Jembrana
JEMBRANA - The Master’s Program in Sustainable Development and Finance (MPKB) at the Graduate School of Udayana University held a promotional event in Jembrana Regency on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. The event took place in the Jimbarwana Meeting Room at the Jembrana Regent’s Office from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The event was attended by the MPKB Program Coordinator, faculty members, staff, and representatives from the Jembrana Regional Human Resources Development Agency (BPKSDM).
The event was opened by the Regional Secretary of Jembrana Regency, Dr. I Made Budiasa, M.Si. During the forum, the local government welcomed the MPKB outreach program as a platform for strengthening the competencies of government officials, particularly in the areas of sustainable development, regional policy formulation, and financial management aligned with environmental principles.
MPKB lecturer Prof. Dr. Ir. Wayan Budiasa, SP., MP., IPU., ASEAN Eng., emphasized the importance of strengthening sustainable education in Indonesia. According to him, issues related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), sustainable finance, and Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEAs) are increasingly essential to development governance, both at the central and local government levels. “Continuing education has become crucial because issues such as the SDGs, sustainable finance, and Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEAs) are increasingly relevant to both the central and local governments,” he said. He also explained that the preparation of SEAs is a mandatory requirement for local governments within a specific timeframe. Therefore, the ability to understand and prepare SEAs is a key competency in supporting a more focused and sustainable development planning process.
The Coordinator of the MPKB Program, Prof. Dr. Ir. I Nyoman Gede Ustriyana, MM., explained that the MPKB is designed as an interdisciplinary program. The program is open to bachelor’s degree holders from various fields, including public administration, economics, engineering, agriculture, natural sciences, and medicine. The program can be completed in a maximum of three semesters—or about 1.5 years—using a hybrid system. MPKB also offers two main concentrations: Sustainable Development and Sustainable Finance.
According to the curriculum overview, the MPKB program has a course load of 54 credit hours. The first semester consists of required courses, while the second semester offers concentration options and elective courses. In the field of sustainable development, students study the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA), the SDG Action Plan, and E-Monev. In the field of sustainable finance, students study taxonomy and sustainable ecosystems. The tuition fee for this program is set at Rp7,800,000 per semester.
The Q&A session focused on educational background requirements, the course model, and the scope of financial studies in the MPKB program. The program coordinators emphasized that the MPKB is open to all bachelor’s degree holders and offers flexibility for both online and in-person learning. The event was then closed by the MPKB Program Coordinator at 12:30 PM WITA. In the event documentation, the information session appeared to take place in an official meeting room with participants attending the presentation in person.(bmp)
