DENPASAR – The Postgraduate School of Udayana University organized a Bootcamp on Publication Strategies for Reputable International Journals from July 29 to 31, 2026. The event took place in Room 3.10 on the third floor of the Postgraduate Building, PB Sudirman Street, Denpasar.

The bootcamp carried the theme “Strengthening the Competence of Academics and Researchers in Publishing in Reputable International Journals.” The program equipped participants with the knowledge and skills required to produce scientific manuscripts that meet international journal standards.

Participants were required to bring article drafts to the program. These drafts served as materials for practical exercises, reviews, consultations, manuscript improvement, and submission assistance.

Speakers from Research Institutions and Universities

The event featured Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmad Fudholi from the National Research and Innovation Agency, Dr. Ir. Bambang Heri Isnawan, M.P. from Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, and Prof. Dr. Ni Luh Suriani, S.Si., M.Si. from Udayana University.

The three speakers delivered sessions on academic writing, supporting software, journal selection, manuscript improvement, and strategies for managing editorial and peer-review processes.

Technology and Artificial Intelligence for Scientific Writing

On the first day, participants studied international publication policies, global publication trends, and techniques for preparing articles that meet the expectations of editors and reviewers. The discussion covered research novelty, abstracts, results, discussions, and conclusions.

Participants also received training in the use of Mendeley or Zotero for reference management. Other tools discussed during the sessions included Turnitin, Grammarly, QuillBot, ChatGPT, and various applications that support scientific writing.

The use of artificial intelligence focused on literature searches, article outline preparation, and academic language editing. The speakers also emphasized the ethical use of AI to ensure responsible application in academic activities.

Strategies for Publishing in Reputable Journals

The second day focused on writing strategies and approaches to publishing in reputable Scopus-indexed journals. Participants learned how to select target journals, understand Scopus and Scimago Journal Rank indicators, interpret journal quartiles, and identify predatory journals.

The sessions also addressed publication experiences, strategies for responding to reviewers, and methods for handling editorial feedback. Participants then joined article-review sessions and manuscript clinics to improve the structure, substance, and presentation quality of their articles.

Manuscript Finalization and Submission Assistance

On the third day, the activities focused on manuscript finalization and the submission process. Participants reviewed journal formatting requirements, reference systems, similarity levels, and academic language.

Participants also studied journal account registration, metadata completion, cover-letter preparation, and document uploading. Through the submission clinic, they received assistance in submitting their articles to selected journals and resolving technical issues during the submission process.

The program concluded with a discussion on strategies for responding to reviewer comments, managing major and minor revisions, and monitoring article status after submission.
