Health Law Awareness Becomes the Key to Safe and Professional Healthcare Services

NEWS

A Community Service activity themed “Health Law Awareness, Safe in Service Delivery” was held on Monday, June 8, 2026, at the Hall of SMK Sanjiwani Gianyar. This activity served as an educational forum for participants to understand the importance of legal aspects, professional ethics, and patient safety in healthcare service practices.

During the activity, two speakers were invited to discuss health law issues from a practical perspective. The first speaker, Ns. I Gede Juliandi Permana, S.Kep, delivered a presentation titled “Legal Risks in Healthcare Services”. He explained that health law is not only related to articles and regulations, but also serves as a foundation for maintaining trust among patients, healthcare workers, and healthcare institutions.

The presentation highlighted several legal risks that may occur in healthcare services, ranging from criminal, civil, administrative, to ethical risks. These risks may arise due to negligence, violations of standard operating procedures, poor communication, incomplete medical records, or actions that do not comply with professional standards.

The second speaker, dr. Ida Bagus Oka Diputra Manuaba, presented material titled “Legal Awareness & Professional Ethics: The Key to Safe and Professional Healthcare Services”. He emphasized that healthcare workers need to understand health law, professional ethics, informed consent, medical records, and the obligation to maintain patient confidentiality. This understanding is important to prevent fatal errors, legal claims, and the loss of patient trust.

In addition to discussing legal aspects, the activity also emphasized the value of professional ethics in healthcare services. Principles such as respecting patient autonomy, doing good, avoiding harm, being fair, disciplined, honest, responsible, and empathetic are essential in shaping professional healthcare workers.

Through this community service activity, participants are expected to become more aware that safe healthcare services do not only depend on technical skills, but also on compliance with laws, ethics, standard operating procedures, effective communication, and proper documentation. This awareness is an important step toward creating safer, more orderly, and more professional healthcare services. (bmp)
