PSPPI Community Service: Mapping the Site of Buahan State Elementary School 1

BERITA

The Graduate Program in Professional Engineering (PSPPI) at Udayana University once again held a community service activity involving the mapping of the grounds of SD Negeri 1 Buahan in Tabanan Regency on Saturday, April 11, 2026. This activity aimed to make a positive contribution to the development of educational infrastructure in the local area. The activity began at 9:00 a.m. WITA and continued until completion at the location of SD Negeri 1 Buahan

This event is a concrete example of the engineering profession’s active role in supporting sustainable development, particularly in the field of education. “As part of the professional community, we feel a responsibility not only to advance knowledge but also to make a positive impact on society,” said Dr. Ir. I Nyoman Aribudiman, S.T., M.T., IPM, Chair of the Professional Engineering Program, in an interview. “Through this initiative, we aim to ensure that educational facilities like SD Negeri 1 Buahan have a solid foundation in proper planning and mapping,” he added.

This initiative involves a number of students and faculty members with expertise in civil and geospatial engineering. They mapped the school grounds using the latest technology to assist the school in planning for future development. “We use modern mapping tools to ensure data accuracy, so the results can be used for long-term planning, such as adding classrooms or other supporting facilities,” explained one of the participating faculty members, Prof. Dr. Ir. I Nyoman Sutarja, M.S.

This site mapping is not only beneficial for Buahan State Elementary School No. 1, but is also expected to serve as an example for other schools in the surrounding area regarding the use of technology to advance education. With accurate data, the school can optimize land use and plan facility development that aligns with students’ needs. “We hope this initiative will make a significant contribution to the development and improvement of educational quality in Buahan Village,” concluded Dr. Aribudiman.
