Udayana University Supports the National Agenda on International Publications Through the PKPI-PMDSU Seminar
Denpasar – The Postgraduate Program of
Udayana University (Unud) once again achieved recognition by hosting the Seminar on the
Results of the International Publication Quality Improvement Program – Master’s
Program Toward Doctorate for Excellent Scholars (PKPI-PMDSU) on
Friday, August 29, 2025. The event, held at the Postgraduate Auditorium,
Denpasar Campus, was organized in collaboration with the Directorate of
Resources, Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Higher
Education, Science, and Technology, and the Postgraduate Program of Udayana
University.
The seminar served both as an academic accountability forum and as a platform for knowledge exchange among PMDSU participants currently pursuing studies at leading international universities. Through this seminar, participants presented their research achievements aimed at strengthening the quality of international publications, in line with the broader goal of enhancing the global academic reputation of Indonesian universities.
In
his remarks, Director of the Postgraduate Program of Udayana University, Prof. I Wayan
Budiasa, expressed his pride in Unud being entrusted with
hosting such a prestigious event. “We hope this activity will provide positive energy
for the 14 doctoral programs at Unud to further enhance their contributions to
the implementation of PMDSU in the future,” he affirmed.
Prof. Budiasa further stressed that organizing PMDSU is no simple matter. Several strict requirements must be met, including that doctoral programs hold an A/Excellent accreditation, have professors with a minimum Scopus H-index of 6, and demonstrate experience in graduating at least three doctoral students on time as promoters or co-promoters. According to him, these standards also serve as a motivation for Unud’s doctoral programs to continuously strengthen the quality of their academic resources.
The
seminar was officially opened by Prof. Dr. Sri Suning Kusumawardani, S.T., M.T.,
Director of Resources at the Directorate General of Higher Education. In her
address, Prof. Suning emphasized the strategic importance of PMDSU in
accelerating the development of young doctoral graduates with international
quality. She expressed hope that such activities would expand global research
networks while fostering high-impact international publications by Indonesian
researchers.
This year’s seminar was attended by 42 PMDSU participants representing 13 universities across Indonesia. They are currently pursuing advanced studies at world-class universities, and at this seminar presented progress reports on their research as well as international publications they have produced or are in the process of completing.
All
presentations were reviewed by nine PMDSU DIKTI reviewers,
consisting of professors from various Indonesian universities. Among them were Prof. Dr. Ir.
Dewa Ngurah Suprapta, M.Sc. and Prof. Dr. dr. Anak Agung Raka
Sudewi, Sp.S.(K) from Udayana University. The presence of these
reviewers was expected to provide constructive criticism and recommendations to
further ensure the quality of the participants’ publications.
Through this seminar, Udayana University reaffirmed its firm commitment to supporting the national agenda of improving international publication quality and developing excellent human resources. Moreover, the event marked an important momentum for Unud in strengthening its role as one of Indonesia’s leading centers of scholarship actively contributing to the creation of a globally competitive generation of young doctoral graduates.
